The Jazz Bass is the second bass model that Leo Fender introduced - and in 1960, first under the Deluxe Bass name. The name Jazz Bass was ultimately chosen because Fender felt that a bass of these parameters would appeal particularly to jazz musicians. He was a little wrong about that, though, because today you'll find "JBs" in many other musical genres where their warm, thick tone
The body of this bass is made of alder wood, to which is bolted a maple neck with a Modern D profile, finished with urethane lacquer. It is fitted with a maple fingerboard with a combined radius of 10 - 14'', which means that it flattens towards the body. The instrument's gauge is 864 mm, the zero fret measures 47.6 mm.
The sound is captured by two single coil pickups, which can be selected between using the Pan Pot knob. The bass is equipped with active electronics with a three-band equalizer, the active circuit can be switched off using the switch and only the volume and tone controls can be used.
The strings are anchored in a solid cob with four stones, and vintage-style Fender "F" mechanics are used for tuning. The hardware is chrome plated. The instrument's lacquer is protected by a three-layer pickguard.
Like all Fender instruments, this bass is distinguished by its high quality workmanship, unmatched sound and time-tested construction. If you're looking for a reliable instrument for frequent use, be sure to come check it out.
