How to choose a bass guitar

Four or five strings?
The difference between 4-string and 5-string bass guitars is that 5-string models have an extra low ‘B’ string (Czechs call it ‘H’) which, with standard tuning, allows you to play three tones lower.Ask yourself the following question. What does your bass idol play – a 4-string or 5-string bass guitar? This question is actually quite important, since as you learn you will definitely want to play the bass parts of your favourite band. If their songs are written for a 5-string bass, don’t be afraid to buy this type even as a beginner. But if you don’t have a favourite rocker who plays on a 5-string guitar, get yourself a standard 4-string model – it will let you play any music style you wish.
How to amplify your bass guitar
Like electric guitars, bass guitars also need an amp to plug into to reproduce the sound of your instrument. Amps can be divided into two types: bass guitar combos and sets of a bass guitar amp and cab. We recommend bass guitar combos for beginners. This piece of equipment combines an amp and a speaker, which is all you need.For playing at home and taking your first steps with a bass guitar, a 50 W combo is sufficient (we list the output of each combo we sell). If you plan to play in a band without drums (e.g. with just a guitarist, keyboard player and some light percussion), look for a combo with an output of around 100 W. In the case your band has a proper drum kit, you’ll need a combo with an output of 200 W or more.
Accessories for bass guitars
Bass guitars require a few basic accessories. First and foremost, you’ll need a .cable to connect your bass to a combo or amp. You’ll need a tuner (any clip model will do) to tune the instrument. A strap and stand will also come in handy.
