The Keystep has 37 dynamically responsive Slim keys with aftertouch, which have been carefully sized so that you don't have to sacrifice anything in your playing, but the instrument retains its compact size. Each key also includes an LED for better orientation.
Many players will appreciate the built-in sequencer and arpeggiator. In sequencer mode, you have up to 64 steps with polyphony, so you can use a total of 16 notes for each step. You can change sequences in real time, and if you want to play and sequence at the same time, you have two separate MIDI channels at your disposal. Arpegiattor offers 7 different decomposition and rhythm modes, so you can quickly create everything from simple melodies to totally messed up structures. A color-coded section for controlling the four tracks will make working with individual tracks much easier. Each section features a two-digit display and control panel for the most optimal settings.
What makes the Keystep Pro a unique controller is its enhanced connectivity. In addition to the standard USB, you'll find MIDI input and output, clock sync jacks, DIN sync jacks, CV/Gate outputs, and a separate CV output that can be assigned a Mod control, keyboard dynamics, or aftertouch. In practice, this means that you can use Keystep to control not only software, but also a whole collection of analogue synths and modules, sync MIDI devices etc. The USB port charges the controller when connected to a computer, if you want to use it standalone you can plug in an adapter.
