The Jazz Bass is the second bass model that Leo Fender introduced - and it was in 1960, first under the name Deluxe Bass. The name Jazz Bass was ultimately chosen because Fender felt that a bass of these parameters would appeal particularly to jazz musicians. However, he was a bit wrong about that, because today you can find "JB" in many other genres of music where their warm and thick tone comes into play.
The body of this bass is made of lightweight poplar wood, which together with the comfortable "C" shaped neck profile ensures maximum playing comfort. Sound pickups are handled by the traditional pair of Squier single-coil J Bass pickups, giving the instrument a wide range of sonic possibilities. Combined with volume potentiometers for each pickup and a shared tone shield, you get an instrument that's sure to be at home in virtually any musical style.
