The bass is based on the Jazz Bass type and is further enriched with Miller's own features. The Indonesian mahogany body is more commonly seen on instruments in much higher price ranges, but this too is part of the aforementioned concept. The wood has a typical full sound with a distinctive bass. The rosewood fingerboard with a real bone fretboard gives a warmer and rounder tone with clean highs. The edges of the fingerboard are now rounded for a more comfortable grip. A specially designed cob with solid saddles allows the strings to be pulled through the body for a tighter, more stable sound.
A common annoyance with cheaper basses is having two identical pickups. In the case of the V3, the pickup and neck were designed with different types of magnets and coils so that the sound reproduced would match their placement. The core of the bass is undoubtedly the richly featured active electronics with a three-band EQ, a volume control between the pickups and a combined tone-shutter and overall volume potentiometer. In addition to boosting and attenuating the mids, the combination control for the mids offers a specific frequency selection from 80 Hz - 2 kHz. An active and passive mode switch is also handy. The bass is sonically very versatile and finds its use in all musical genres.
