The first plus (at least for fans of the original version) is the almost zero design change. Not only the colour scheme is the same, but also the individual controls, including the (unique in its time) concentric EQ knobs, where you have a three-band EQ with parametric mids. In addition, the individual potentiometers offer high sensitivity even with minor setting changes, so you can dial in the desired sound with any type of instrument or guitar on the box. Thanks to premium analog components and a buffer, the box produces almost zero noise, plus it responds to volume changes directly on the guitar in a completely accurate and sensitive manner.
A definite change is the two switchable pedal modes, with the original sound with a distinctive characteristic in the midrange represented by the Standard mod (with a cleaner and more defined sound than the original MT-2 and almost zero noise). Custom mode offers a natural open sound with more dynamics and clearly defined clamped bass even at maximum hi-gain settings. This makes the pedal relevant not only for metal players rooted in the 90s, but also for players of modern metal/core or djent.
A 9V battery or 9V adapter is used to power the box.
