Warm Audio, known for its high-end clones, has delivered a great result here too, bringing the unique sound of a classic VCA compressor in a much more affordable design. What's more, they didn't stop at the original specs, but added useful new features including CineMag transformers that add depth and tonality when added to the signal path. In order to boast a boutique-caliber compressor, Warm Audio used only premium components such as custom CineMag transformers made in the USA, or THAT Corporation's VCAs. The Bus Comp features six potentiometers to control Threshold, Attack, Ratio, Release, HPF and Makeup gain. Despite the smaller number of controls, it is extremely flexible and capable of handling any level of compression, from light mastering compression to extremely compressed sounds, all while maintaining musicality of tone. Other useful controls include a bypass switch, for quick A/B comparisons, external sidechain connection and transformers for adding rich harmonic colouration.
