TAYLOR T5z Custom Koa Armrest

With 2023 comes a change in the design of the popular Taylor T5z hybrid electro-acoustic guitars. The guitars now offer a lighter, narrower, more sculpted body and a change in the design of the controls, with their placement at the bottom of the body making it much easier to control and adjust the sound. Because of this, the new T5z models have only one F-hole in the top of the body.

The construction of the Custom T5z Custom Koa is composed of a lightweight American Ash (Urban Ash) body and a figured Hawaiian Koa top. The wood grain of the top is accentuated by the Shaded Edgeburst finish. The gently rounded edges of the body and the armrest created from the solid wood top enhance playing comfort.

A West African ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-one frets is glued to the mahogany neck. Position markers made of imitation mother-of-pearl orient the fingerboard surface. The strings are anchored in the company's tuning machines and ebony fingerboard. The stylish workmanship is accentuated by the top trim complemented by a black pickguard and gold hardware.

The triple sound sensing method, using an acoustic sensor that senses the vibration of the top and two humbuckers (hidden neck and visible tailpiece), brings with it the ability to switch between acoustic and electric guitar sounds (also play through both acoustic and electric guitars). The settings and character of the sound can be adjusted using the two-band equalizer and volume control. The five-position pickup switch offers the following configurations - 1. neck humbucker and magnetic sensor, 2. neck humbucker, 3. tailpiece humbucker, 4. parallel-wired humbuckers, 5. series-wired humbuckers.

The instrument comes in a case (deluxe hardshell).

Taylor T5z electric hybrid guitars combine the sound and feel of electric and amplified acoustic guitars in one body. Compared to the T5 series, it offers a more compact body that is closer to electric guitars, and features just what "electric" players appreciate - a 12-inch fingerboard radius, jumbo-sized frets, and greater resistance to feedback in "higher-gain" settings.
