TAYLOR Builders Edition 814ce 50th Anniversary

The limited edition 50th Anniversary commemorates fifty years of the American brand Taylor Guitars. It includes the Grand Auditorium Builder's Edition 814ce 50th Anniversary electroacoustic guitar from the Builder's Edition line, which brings together top-of-the-line guitars made in El Cajon, California, and embellished with many luxurious design features.

The guitar's soundboard is made from Sinker Redwood, whose properties the manufacturer exaggeratedly compares to cedar on steroids. This is wood carved from logs sunk during the Northern California floatation, i.e. the logs were underwater for sometimes over a hundred years, giving it its impressive grain and unique characteristics. Sinker Redwood is complemented by select Indian Rosewood on the back and sides.

Playing enjoyment is maximized by the beveled ebony armrest, shaped lower body cutaway (venetian cutaway), modified body edges and patented V-Class ribbing, which enhances the guitar's performance in three aspects - increasing the instrument's volume, extending sustain and improving intonation.

The mahogany neck is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with 20 frets. The stability of tuning is guaranteed by the fit of the strings in the ebony headstock and top-quality Gotoh 510 Antique Gold pegs. The luxurious workmanship is accentuated by a mother-of-pearl rosette (abalone) with a wooden inlay, a peripheral inlay made of maple, rosewood and black lines, rosewood soundhole trim, and a pickguard made of Indian rosewood, mother-of-pearl position markers in gold hued Mother-of-Pearl, maple fingerboard and headstock binding, silver side dots, ebony fingerboard pegs, and Kona edgeburst finish back with contrasting maple line.

Sound capture is handled by the Taylor Expression System 2. This is a completely unique capture method that pushes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the fingerboard are used for pickups. Unlike conventional pickups, they do not sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful, pleasing and responsive to the dynamics of the playing. The new preamp also makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and the volume, bass and treble can be adjusted.
