TASCAM Portacapture X6

Tascam's new compact, high-resolution multitrack recorder, the Portacapture X6, pushes the boundaries of handheld recorders a little further. It features high-quality recording, a 2.4-inch touchscreen, condenser microphones and six preset modes with optimised presets. Portacapture X6 is suitable for journalists, podcasts, vlogs, music recording and many other applications.

The set of configurations that Portacapture is equipped with covers the vast majority of situations and adapts the unit for immediate use without complicated setup. All options are easily accessible via the display, allowing the recorder to let the user focus primarily on the recording itself instead of searching through endless menus. There are modes for multi-track recording, interview capture, podcast, music recording, field recording and ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response).

Two built-in 10mm condenser microphones feature integrated HDDA preamps developed by Tascam. Optional accessories offer additional options such as camera mount or adapter power. The unit features a wide range of effects including compressor, limiter, low cut filter, noise gate, reverb, auto gain control and more.

With the help of a separately sold Bluetooth adapter, the Tascam AK-BT1 also offers remote control via Android or iOs mobile devices and the freely available Tascam Portacapture Control app. In addition to the built-in microphones, the recorder offers 2 XLR inputs for external microphones, and audio streaming from wireless microphones is also supported.

Portacapture can also, when connected to a computer via USB, act as an audio interface. Monitoring is possible via the headphone output. Audio in wav or mp3 format can be recorded on micro SD, micro SDHC and micro SDXC recording media up to a capacity of 512 GB. The device can be powered by four AA batteries, via USB or by an adapter (Tascam PS-P520U not included).
