However, the box also offers a monophonic mode with a warm analogue pitch-shifter sound - so the sub-octaves get a warm vibe similar to the sound of the MXR Vintage Bass Octave pedal, while the upper octaves get the character of the Octavio Fuzz box with the fuzz pulled back for a change. And speaking of fuzz - the Poly Blue Octave also houses a fuzz effect inspired by the MXR Blue Box Fuzz in its chassis. The effect is applied to all five pedal signals, and you adjust the volume of the fuzz effect using the Dry control after pressing and holding the Fuzz button.
The dual modulation mode offers a Leslie effect simulation (rotating speakers) in poly mode, and Phase 90 box-inspired sound modulation in mono mode. As with the fuzz effect, modulation is applied to all five signals. The setting of the Mod control determines the speed of the effect modulation, the modulation is filtered out by pulling down the potentiometer.
The EXP jack allows you to connect an expression pedal or switcher such as the MXR Tap Tempo Switch to the effect pedal and change individual parameters in real time or switch between two mods/configurations.
The pedal's metal chassis ensures it's durable enough. The M306 is wired as a true bypass. The pedal is powered by a 9V battery or the included 9V adapter.
