The SR series has been one of Ibanez's most popular basses since 1987. The main characteristics of these instruments include a lightweight ergonomically shaped body, a narrow neck that contributes to a truly comfortable playing experience, careful selection of woods and hardware, versatility of use, and above all, a great sound.
This bass with the Premium acronym belongs to a model range manufactured in Indonesia, and extreme care has been taken in the production and quality control. For example, the frets are treated with Premium Fret Edge Treatment, specially rounding the ends of the frets for faster playing and a more comfortable grip on the neck. No expense has been spared on the hardware either, with Gotoh drives and Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL zero frets ensuring perfect tuning.
The body is made of light and wonderfully resonant ash, complemented by a maple top with an unmistakable pattern. The exceptionally crafted neck is composed of five pieces of panga panga, purpleheart woods, its perfect stability is further ensured by special bracing from KTS Titanium. The fingerboard is made of eyelet maple and decorated with oval markers, it is fitted with 24 Medium-sized frets.
Completing the perfect package are Nordstrand Big Break passive pickups, which give you the full and aggressive sound typical of humbucker pickups, while retaining the clarity and proverbial twang of noiseless single-coil pickups. You can use the Ibanez Custom active electronics to fine-tune your sound, which are designed to provide an incredibly wide range of sonic possibilities while being easy to control. As well as the traditional volume and balance controls, you also have a three-band EQ with adjustable centre frequencies that can be removed from the signal path using a mini toggle switch.
An MR5S type pickup with separate stones allows you to adjust the string spacing within +/- 1.5mm, and the instrument is also equipped with a lockable Neutrik connector for optimal signal transfer. A high quality soft case is also included.
