Ibanez Soundgear Series basses have been providing players with modern alternatives to classic bass designs since 1987. As the name suggests, the instruments in this Premium series are characterized by the use of select materials, meticulous craftsmanship with many details and very powerful and high-quality electronics. The body of this bass is made from solid African mahogany and the top veneer is made from a combination of Panga Panga and Ash woods. Bolted to the body is a neck composed of five pieces of Purpleheart and Panga Panga woods and features titanium bracing to adjust its bend. The neck is fitted with a Panga Panga fingerboard, which features 24 Medium-sized frets. Oval inlaid ear markers are used for orientation. The radius of the neck measures 305 mm. The menstrual dimension corresponds to the number 864 mm, the width of the zero fret stops at 45 mm.
The instrument is equipped with two passive Nordstrand Big Single pickups, Balance and Volume knobs are used to influence the tone, there is also a three-band equalizer, with which you can take away or add bass, treble and mids. The frequencies of the mids you want to adjust can be selected using the three-position switch (250, 450, 700 Hz). The active pickup circuit can be switched off using another switch, so you can use only the treble potentiometer as a tone shield.
The hardware is black, giving the bass a very elegant look. The strings are mounted in an MR5S type tailpiece, which means that each string has its own rail. This design helps to maximise the vibration transfer of the strings to the body of the guitar, and thanks to the use of a TUSQ ivory fretboard, perfect sustain is also guaranteed. Precision tuning mechanisms with large pins allow for comfortable tuning.
