The body, made from a spruce top and back and sides of figured maple (all plywood), offers a warm, natural acoustic sound. A three-piece neck with a "C" profile is glued to a 20-fret ebony fingerboard (Jescar 47/104 Nickel Silver). Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by mother of pearl position blocks (Mother of Pearl Split Block).
A floating single-coil DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup, often used on D'Angelico guitars from the late 1930s and 1940s, amplifies the instrument's warm "woody" acoustic sound without altering its character. The settings can be adjusted using the volume and tone controls.
Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by mounting the strings through the Graphtech NuBone XL zero fret in the Grover 150 Imperial movement and through the ebony fretboard in the D'Angelico Stairstep. The guitar's stylish look is accentuated by the body, fingerboard and headstock binding, gold-finished hardware, a headstock adorned with mother-of-pearl corporate and B style logos (Mother-of-Pearl) and a five-ply Scalini pickguard.
The guitar comes in a case.
