The body of the Dreadnought AW1040CE-OPN is made of okoumé - the front board is solid wood, the back and sides are made of laminated okoumé. A 20-fret ovangkol fingerboard is glued to the exotic nyatoh neck. White position dots make it easy to navigate the fingerboard surface.
Sufficient volume for public performance needs is provided by Ibanez Custom electronics with volume and tone controls in the bellows and an Ibanez T-bar piezo pickup underneath. The strings are mounted in the company's chrome Die-Cast gears with an 18:1 gear ratio and an ovangkol fingerboard. Ibanez Advantage pegs offer the benefits of easy handling and a solid string fit over standard models.
The stylish design is accentuated by a rosette composed of black and white (Abalone) pearl rings and a pickguard, which also protects the instrument's lacquer from scratches.
