MOOER Black Truck

The Black Truck hi-gain guitar multieffect from Chinese brand Mooer is a practical multifunctional solution for busy rock and metal guitarists who don't want to lug around a bunch of guitar pedals. Like its corporate predecessor, the Red Truck multi-effect, it offers a range of guitar effects (distortion, overdrive, tremolo, phaser, flanger, chorus, reverb, delay, compressor, equalizer) in six separate footswitch-controlled sections with associated controls.

Hi-Gain offers a purely analogue circuit, a sea of gain for arbitrarily strict metal styles and (for that reason) a handy noise gate. In the Mod section, as with the Red Truck, you can choose from variations of phaser, tremolo and flanger/chorus effects. The OD (overdrive) with activatable compressor offers sounds based on the company's Green Mile (Tube Screamer-style overdrive) and Yellow Comp boxes. A separate five-band equalizer operates over a frequency range from 100 Hz to 4 KHz and allows the signal to be boosted or attenuated by 18 decibels. The final Space section offers digital delay and stereo reverb sounds inspired by the company's EchoVerb pedal (both delay and reverb sounds can be used separately or simultaneously). A sixth footswitch can be used to activate the tap tempo function or the integrated multieffect tuner.

The multieffect works in two modes. In Live mode as a classic pedalboard switch - each footswitch controls only a specific effect section. In Preset mode, each switch de/activates a combination of multiple sound presets. In this mode (and for the tuner) the LED display is activated.

The stereo output of the multieffect and the effects loop allow a variety of different connections, e.g. using the effects loop of a combo/amplifier or sending the signal to multiple instruments. The signal from the headphone output with integrated cabinet simulation can be sent directly to an external PA or mixer. With a separate volume control, the headphone output can be used simultaneously with the main outputs. A 9V adapter is used to power the multieffect.
