The demand for high quality wireless systems for sound reinforcement companies, conference centres, theatres, clubs, has meant that AKG is once again responding to this trend by developing new product lines and accessories that provide professional solutions for all types of applications from the less demanding musician to complex wireless solutions with dozens of systems operating simultaneously in architecturally challenging environments. The latest addition to the wireless microphone systems market so far is the AKG WMS 470 series. Conceptually, the WMS 470 builds on the previous WMS 400 system, but brings a number of technical improvements and several major changes.

The SR 470 Diversity Receiver is housed in a robust all-metal enclosure with a durable finish, detachable antennas with BNC connectors, and features, above all, user-friendly setup of up to 12 channels in a single frequency group. The receiver includes an automatic frequency scan that automatically searches for the most suitable free channels and an infraport for simple and fast data synchronization between the receiver and the selected transmitter. The colour-backlit programmable display with a choice of colour backlighting displays all the data the user needs for operation (e.g. transmitter battery status, user alert on critical distance between transmitter and receiver, etc.). If the power supply to the transmitter drops below a given threshold due to battery life, the entire display flashes red and the user is immediately aware that there is a reception problem). The SR 470 Diversity Receiver is compatible with the professional antenna splitter, power supply and other components of the WMS 4000 series.

The C555 L is a powerful, headset, condenser microphone that can be placed on either the right or left side of the face. It has a cardioid characteristic, so it isolates ambient noise well. The microphone is protected by a special water-resistant shield to prevent damage caused by excessive moisture, such as sweat and breathing. A special holder reduces sounds caused by body movement to a minimum, and a small gooseneck microphone stand ensures a firm position in front of the mouth.

Also included in the set is the AKG CK99 L condenser lapel microphone with cardioid characteristic, which is suitable for versatile use when capturing the spoken word. This directional characteristic perfectly suppresses unwanted ambient sounds. At 10 kHz it has a frequency lift curve, which makes the voice clearer and more audible. The microphone is very compact and features a metal clip that makes it very easy to clip onto lapels, costumes and other clothing without disturbing the overall look.

The pocket transmitter is used to connect lapel microphones, instruments and other sound sources. It features an infrared port for quick connection to the receiver. It is powered by a lithium battery that lasts up to 14 hours. A display informs about the battery status.
