PRS Silver Sky "Dead Spec" Limited

The design of the PRS Silver Sky electric guitar is the result of a close collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and blues-rock musician and Grammy Award winner John Mayer. It's an instrument based on his favourite elements of vintage guitars, spiced with a modern aesthetic and fretwork.

The PRS Silver Sky "Dead Spec" Limited is a modified model created for John Mayer and the last touring band Dead & Company, which, in addition to J. Mayer, is mostly made up of members of the famous American rock band Grateful Dead. It is a strictly limited edition of 1000 pieces.

The body of the guitar is made of alder. The shape of the maple neck corresponds to the 1963/64 models, including a more rounded fingerboard profile. The fretboard itself is divided by twenty-two frets. Position markers in the form of bird silhouettes facilitate orientation around the fingerboard surface.

Three 635JM single-coil pickups give the guitar a round, full sound with beautifully singing highs. Its character can be adjusted with two tone diaphragm potentiometers and a volume knob. A special feature of the "Dead Spec" model is the Alembic Blaster preamp/clean boost circuit and a switch to kick the gain up by 3 - 14 dB. Other departures from standard PRS Silver Sky guitars include a brass zero fret and the conversion of the PRS tremolo to a fixed bridge.
