MARTIN D-19 190th Anniversary

The D-19 190th Anniversary acoustic guitar commemorates the 190th anniversary of the American Martin brand. It is a reprised concept from 1976, when the D-19 special edition models were a more luxurious version of the D-18 acoustic guitars from the American Standard Series.

The soundboard of this Dreadnought is made of Adirondack spruce. The "microburst" top treatment gives the soundboard the appearance of figured mahogany. The back and sides are made of real mahogany (Swietenia wood - Honduran, American/Cuban or Mexican mahogany). The resonance of the soundboard and the overall good acoustic properties of the guitar are enhanced by the special X-ribbing (Forward-Shifted X-Brace).

A Guatemalan rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets is glued to a select hardwood neck, attached to the body at the 14th fret as standard. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by mother-of-pearl dots. The compensated bone saddle set on a rosewood fingerboard provides the strings, along with the bone fret, with excellent resonance and sustain. The pickguard, which like the binding is made of imitation tortoiseshell, protects the guitar's paintwork from scratches caused by pick playing.

The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is quite deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound. In addition, their current products use "eco-friendly" components made from renewable resources and composite materials.
