Contemporary reverb-type guitar effects often offer enrichment in the form of added modulations in addition to impressive echoes. The Secret Path guitar effect from British brand Laney belongs to this range, but unlike many pedals with not-quite-musical metallic reverbs of added modulations, it comes with beautifully organic warm reverb and modulation sounds in top quality.

Basic pedal setup is easily accomplished with four potentiometers that determine output volume (Volume), EQ (Tone), the rate of onset of the fuzzed out single (Pre-Delay), and the size of the virtual space (Size). A three-position switch then selects one of three reverb effect modes - Classic Spring Reverb emulation, Studio Plate reverb and The Secret Path with Large Hall effect sound ideal for creating beautiful ambient surfaces. But that's not all - holding down the footswitch for longer enters the Enhance mode, where you can assign nice musical sound modulations to individual effects and add another dimension to your guitar tone (in the case of The Secret Path mode, the popular Shimmer effect).

Other pluses of this pedal include the ability to output to stereo, control with an expression pedal (not included), a durable metal chassis, and quiet pedal switching without distracting clicking or peeling. A 9V adapter is used for power supply.
