The body of the JS22-7 RR - SATIN BLK seven-string guitar is made of poplar. The bolted maple neck with graphite bracing is glued to an amaranth (purpleheart) fingerboard fitted with twenty-four jumbo-sized frets. Its radius flattens towards the body - allowing both comfortable riffing at the zero fret and comfortable ultra-fast shred at higher positions. The guitar's longer gauge (673 mm) helps with the articulation of the sound on thick strings and the tension of the strings. Position markers made of imitation mother-of-pearl make it easier to orient the fingerboard.
Two proprietary humbuckers with ceramic magnets and a high output signal give the guitar the juicy sound so much needed in metal and rock music. Volume potentiometers, tone controls and a three-position pickup switch are used for sonic adjustments. The strings are mounted in the company's die-cast tuning machines and through a solid bridge through the body of the guitar.
For several decades, American-made Jackson electric guitars have appealed primarily to musicians in metal, metal/core, HC or djent bands who profess a loud sound with a more or less diluted dose of aggression, as evidenced by the company's roster of players.
