Gibson SG electric guitars are rightfully among the immortal icons of rock music. The names of guitar legends like Carlos Santana, Pete Townsend and other rock music greats are associated with their sound.The 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue Stop-Bar VOS Cherry Red is a historically authentic "reissue" model from the Gibson Custom Shop that harkens back to the 1961 design.
The body, carved from a single piece of mahogany, features a Cherry Red finish. A special VOS (Vintage Original Specs) finish gives the guitar the authentic look and feel of the originals. Glued to the mahogany neck is a rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-two frets (Authentic Medium-Jumbo). Position blocks (Cellulose Nitrate Trapezoid) facilitate orientation on the fingerboard surface.
The sound of the instrument is provided by two Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers. Two volume potentiometers, two tone controls and a three-position pickup switch are used to adjust the sound. Stable tuning is ensured by the attachment of the strings in the Kluson Single Line mechanics and through the ABR-1 solid bridge in the stringing system. The period authenticity is underlined by all the materials/components used and their workmanship.
