The Vintage Custom 51 Precision Bass Time Capsule is an electric bass from the Fender Custom Shop. It was the 1951 P Bass model that represented one of the important milestones in the evolution of modern music, providing musicians with enough volume to assert themselves within modern ensembles with amplified instruments while freeing them from having to lug around heavy, yet fragile, double basses.
The body of the bass is made of two pieces of ash. It is an instrument made to similar specifications as the original models from the early 1950s. It is a great choice for all the discerning musicians and connoisseurs who sometimes dream of what it would have been like to go to a store in the USA in the 1950s and buy a brand new Fender.
The neck is made of maple (quartersawn). The '55 P Bass single-coil provides the instrument with a beautifully dynamic bass bottom end. Adjust the character of the sound using the volume and tone controls. The styling is accentuated by Fender's vintage-style tuning machines, '51-'55 P Bass headstock, Closet Classic hardware with subtle faux patina touches, and a single-ply black pickguard.
