The Fender 69 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Aztec Gold over Paisley is an electric guitar from the Fender Custom Shop.
The guitar's two-piece alder body is adorned with a colorful Aztec Gold over Paisley finish, with the "original" Paisley finish making its presence known under a coat of gold paint/lacquer. We write quotes because this is obviously a new instrument and not a homemade x-painted beauty. However, even the Heavy Relic finish, with its distinct elements of faux patina, tries to convince you otherwise - the "scratched lacquer", faded hardware and other battle scars convincingly evoke decades of intense playing and gigging.
The neck, with its properly fretted "U" profile, is made of maple (quartersawn), and orientation on the fingerboard surface is facilitated by black micarta front and side position dots. Three hand-wound HW 69 Strat Relic pickups give the guitar a period-authentic sound and feel. The strings are mounted across the bone zero fret in the company's vintage-style tuning machines and synchronized tremolo.
The guitar comes in a case (Deluxe Hardshell) along with a strap and certificate of authenticity.
