The 1954 Telecaster Relic electric guitar from the Fender Custom Shop harkens back to the early years of Telecaster design. Specifically, 1954, when the last Telecasters were made with a Nocaster Blonde finish and a single-ply black Bakelite pickguard, which was eventually replaced by a single-ply ABS plastic pickguard.
The body of the guitar is made of two pieces of ash. The Relic finish, with authentic-looking faux patina elements in the form of minor scuffs, scratches and scars, gives the guitar the look of an instrument that has been played and flashed around clubs and bars for years. The maple neck features a period '54-style "U" profile, and the fingerboard surface is divided by twenty-one Medium Vintage-size frets and black micarta dots.
Two hand-wound Fender Custom Shop Loaded '51 Nocaster single-coil pickups give the guitar the twang and feel of an early '50s Telecaster, only with a slightly higher output. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. Strings are held in vintage-style tuning machines and through a Tele bridge with three brass saddles through the body. The stylish workmanship is accentuated by a single-ply black bakelite pickguard.
The guitar is supplied in a case with a certificate of authenticity and guitar strap.
