When the music scene began to move towards harder genres and a fuller, denser humbucker sound in the early 1970s, Fender came to market with this line, designed by acclaimed pickup designer Seth Lover. This satisfies the desire for the higher output signal of dual-coil pickups, while retaining the renowned, easily recognizable characteristics of the Fender sound.
Special CuNiFe magnets made from an alloy of copper, nickel and iron provide a rich, ringing sound with the full bass and clean highs that are typical of humbuckers. At the same time, the pickup is able to maintain its clarity and readability even at high distortion levels. Together with the larger coil, this achieves the unique sound of Custom, Thinline and Deluxe Telecasters of the era.
All of this is accentuated by the classic '70s design with chrome cover, Fender logo and "3+3" style exposed magnets.
This pickup is designed to be placed near the neck and has an output resistance of 10.1 - 10.7k Ohms.
