The design of the guitar is based on the ESP Viper double-cut models. It's a more affordable instrument with a mahogany body, a glued-in three-piece mahogany neck, a jatoba fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Extra Jumbo frets, two ESP Designed LH-150 passive humbuckers, and the company's proprietary tuning machines, TOM headstock and stringers.
ESP has been making electric guitars since 1984 and its satisfied customers include Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Ronnie Wood and Max Cavalera. Due to the popularity of these instruments, a subsidiary company LTD was created to offer popular models in an affordable version. However, even in the case of ESP-LTD guitars, great emphasis is placed on the quality of workmanship and fitted components.
