The Deering Boston six-string banjo offers the premium sound of professional instruments at a more affordable price. It is one of the so-called resonators, i.e. it has an arched mahogany back with a white trim that adds the warmth of tropical woods to the tone. The five millimetre diameter rolled steel hoop has similar characteristics to a tone-ring. An eleven-inch bellows is attached to it by a bevelled rim.
The mahogany neck is joined by an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets. Orientation on its surface is facilitated by decorative mother-of-pearl position markers. The strings are mounted in guitar-type mechanisms on one side and in an adjustable Deering True Tone nickel-plated steel stringer via a maple/ebony fingerboard on the other. The decorative motifs on the headstock, shoulder rest and decorative zinc flange in the form of twenty-four pieces in a butterfly design suitably complement the basic materials used both practically and visually.
All Deering instruments (from the professional models to the basic Goodtime range) are manufactured in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
