The Boss DM-101 Delay Machine is a versatile analog delay machine with twelve types of stereo/mono delay effects created using eight internal BBD chips. With four built-in memories/presets (127 via MIDI), tap tempo, carryover/trails, and expanded control options via external footswitches, expression pedal, or MIDI, the Boss DM-101 Delay Machine gives you the flexibility of advanced digital technology, but combined with the vibrant warmth of an authentic analog circuit.
Eight 2048-stage BBD chips push the limits of analog delay pedals in terms of sound clarity, delay effect length (delay time), and total number of delay effect sounds. The DM-101 offers both warm vintage echoes and modern analog vintage delays. Six of the twelve effect types/mods offer stereo mode. Individual controls adjust the volume, length and intensity of the delay effect, and the speed and intensity of the added modulation. The function of the Variation control varies depending on the selected delay effect type/mode. There's also a tap tempo function with tap division switch for creating advanced rhythmic delay effects, a carryover/trails function where the delay effect reverberates naturally even when the pedal is turned off, a stereo output for flexibility in signal routing, and a micro USB interface (update only).
The pedal effect is wired as a buffered bypass. Use the included adapter for power.
DM-101 Delay Modes
Classic - traditional warm analog delay, delay time up to 1200 ms
Vintage - retro analog delay inspired by the 1981 BOSS DM-2 Delay pedal.
Modern - unique clean analog delay with treble profiling and delay time up to 840 ms
Multi-Head - emulates the sound of a tape echo with multiple heads
Non-Linear - produces short delay effects (35-190 ms) that gradually increase in volume
Ambience - simulates a smaller space
Reflect - stereo delay with reverb-style effect
Doubling+Delay - a stereo effect that combines a doubled sound with a longer delay
Wide - stereo delay with offset L/R delay timing, i.e. different lengths of delay effect in the left and right outputs
Dual Mod - stereo delay with different modulation phase settings for left and right outputs
Pan - tapped stereo delay
Pattern - stereo delay with different rhythmic patterning. The Variation knob in this mod offers ten types of rhythmic patterns
