D'Angelico's Excel series represents instruments manufactured in the Republic of Korea, which, thanks to the quality of workmanship and components, will delight professional players and pure music enthusiasts.
The D'Angelico Excel EXL-1 Dark Iced Tea Burst is a single-cut brass guitar inspired by the 1947 "Excel" design. Constructed with a laminated spruce top and laminated flamed maple back and sides, the body offers a warm, natural acoustic sound suitable for playing rhythm accompaniments and solos. Glued to the three-piece maple and walnut neck with a "C" profile is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two frets (Jescar 47/104 Nickel Silver). Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by mother of pearl position blocks (Mother of Pearl Split Block).
A Seymour Duncan 59 neck humbucker gives the guitar the warm full tone of late 50s PAF humbuckers and a beautifully singing sustain. The sound can be adjusted using the volume and tone controls.
The body of the guitar is balanced by the company's signature headstock adorned with mother-of-pearl corporate and Excel Shield logos. Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by the attachment of the strings through the Graphtech NuBone XL zero fret in Grover 150 Imperial gears with a 16:1 gear ratio and through the ebony fretboard in the truss rod (D'Angelico Stairstep). The stylish look of the guitar is accentuated by the body, fingerboard and headstock binding, gold hardware and a five-ply Scalini pickguard.
The guitar comes in a deluxe hardshell case.
