The Fender Esquire, with its single pickup and pine body, is not only Fender's first "solid-body" electric guitar, but also arguably its rarest. In less than a year, Fender changed the body material from pine to ash and the finish to "Blonde," yet the original Esquire model has made an indelible mark on popular music history. The Custom Shop Vintage Custom 1950 Pine Esquire, NOS, Aged Black from the Fender Custom Shop is truly a faithful replica of the original.
It features a slightly narrower (1.5") sandwich pine body, a one-piece rift-sawn maple neck with 1950 Esquire profile (no bracing), a combined fingerboard radius (7.25"-9.5"), twenty-one Medium-size frets, hand-wound '50-'51 Blackguard pickups, toggle switches (1: Volume and Tone, 2: Volume, 3: Straight to Output), 1950 Esquire bridge with original steel saddles, and vintage-style tuning machines.
The guitar comes in a deluxe hardshell case along with a certificate of authenticity. The package includes an extra pickup to the neck, electronics and pickguard so a second pickup can be added, as is usual nowadays, the hole in the body is already prepared.
The 2023 Esquire is being sold including all original accessories as used goods under the BAZAAR VAT regime.
