The mahogany body of the EC-256 QM SEE THRU BLACK CHERRY SB guitar is adorned with a spectacular flame maple veneer and See Thru Black Cherry Sunburst finish. The narrow three-piece mahogany neck with a "Thin U" profile is glued to a roasted jatoba fingerboard with twenty-two Extra Jumbo frets. The fingerboard orientation is facilitated by position blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl.
Two proprietary passive humbuckers give the guitar an aggressive sound suitable for contemporary rock and metal music, as well as a pure single-coil feel (thanks to the ability to split the humbucker coils). The strings are anchored in the company's tuning machines and through the TOM tailpiece in the stringers. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the bright trim on the body, fingerboard and headstock.
ESP has been making electric guitars since 1984 and its satisfied customers include Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Ronnie Wood and Max Cavalera. Due to the popularity of these instruments, a subsidiary company, LTD, has been formed to offer popular models in more affordable designs.
