The combination of a solid spruce soundboard with an equally solid back and sides made of genuine mahogany (the wood of the Swietenia family of trees - Honduran, American/Cuban or Mexican mahogany) gives the guitar a rich, clear tone with a balanced balance of tonal clarity and warmth. The guitar's good acoustic properties are accentuated by the lowered X-ribs (Scalloped Forward-Shifted X-Brace) of the soundboard. The mahogany neck, which is attached to the body at the fourteenth fret as standard, is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets.
