Electric guitars from the RG series of the Japanese brand Ibanez are among the most famous instruments of this type. Their flatter, faster neck, lighter weight and distinctive cutouts with stylishly pointed horns for easy movement across the entire fingerboard are the reasons for their extraordinary popularity among rock and metal guitarists.

The body of the RG9PB-TGF nine-string guitar is constructed from solid nyatoh wood and poplar burl top veneer. A five-piece maple and walnut neck with a Wizard-9 profile is bolted to a Makassar ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-four jumbo-sized frets. Nine strings are matched by the instrument's longer gauge (712 mm).

Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker pickups with ceramic and Alnico magnets give the guitar an aggressive dynamic sound without unwanted accompanying noise. A two-position push/pull voicing switch on the volume control and a separate coil-tap switch expand the guitar's sonic arsenal with additional sonic positions, including single-coil character. Good sustain and optimum vibration transfer of the strings is guaranteed by anchoring them through the Gibraltar Standard II's solid bridge through the body.
