The legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo analogue tape echo produced between 1974 and 1990 returns in the form of the BOSS RE-202, a comprehensive delay pedal with a host of added modern features.
The pedal offers the classic three tape head configuration of the original plus an added tape head - a total of 12 modes, unique combinations of reverb, echo and delay effects. All processes/changes, such as the gradual change in tuning when turning the Repeat Rate knob and the reverberating feedback when turning the Intensity knob all the way to the right, match the behaviour of the original. Thanks to the adjustable virtual tape age and flexible knobs, you can set both brand new tape echo sounds and the character of a worn tape from an older device. The Saturation driver has been carefully calibrated to the actual RE-201 magnetic tape and preamp, meaning that turning it to the right makes the sound more warm and compressed. And with the expressive Wow & Flutter function, you can conjure up all the natural modulations that are absolutely essential to the sound of the Space Echo effect.
The RE-202 differs from the original with a number of modern features to meet the demands of today's musicians, such as A fourth virtual head with five added sound combinations, an echo type that changes the distance between the heads (something unthinkable in the original), stereo wiring with switchable inputs for instruments with guitar and line signals, a choice between a pure analogue dry signal and the modulated sound of the original Space Echo preamp, a stereo version of the original spring reverb with hall, room, plate and ambience types, a tap tempo function plus expressive Warp and Twist effects.
Save your favorite settings to four built-in memories (an additional 127 are available via MIDI program change). Expanded control options include a CTL/EXP jack for connecting external footswitches or an expression pedal and MIDI I/O. Software updates can be recorded via USB micro B-type.
The RE-202, like all current Boss pedals, operates in Buffered Bypass mode. Power is supplied by the included adapter.
