This Japanese Ibanez electric guitar is the signature model of Andy Timmons, an American guitarist with distinctive phrasing, tone and fretwork who can navigate the waters of rock and jazz/fusion with ease.
The body of the guitar is made of alder. The maple neck and fingerboard have undergone a patented S-Tech heat treatment process before assembly, which improves the wood's properties (stability, durability, resistance to water and temperature fluctuations) while giving the guitar a nice vintage feel. The fingerboard itself is fitted with Jumbo size stainless steel frets, and orientation around the fingerboard surface is made easier by dark position dots and luminescent dots on the side.
The DiMarzio AT-1 Signature humbucker with Alnico V magnets, a milder output (medium output) and a perfectly balanced ratio of warmth and sonic clarity is complemented at the middle and neck positions by DiMarzio The Cruiser mini-humbuckers with ceramic magnets and a cool dynamic sound that could be compared to traditional single-coil Strat pickups on steroids without their (for some, beloved, for others annoying) hum. To adjust the sound, there's a volume potentiometer, two tone controls, a coil-tap switch (to split the humbucker coils) and a five-position pickup switch. The stability of tuning is guaranteed by the attachment of strings in Gotoh Magnum Lock and Wilkinson WV6-SB tremolo.
