The JHS Colour Box V2 is a versatile Preamp/EQ/Overdrive/Distortion/Fuzz/DI Box that offers similar functionality in a pedal format to the studio modules and equipment used by famous musicians (Beatles, Spoon, Wilco, Steely Dan) to DI record electric guitars. The V2 box extends the functionality of the successful first model used by studio producers and musicians to record studio vocals, bass drum percussion, electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitars, keyboards, synths, when re-amping, etc.
Compared to the first version, the pedal offers expanded control options on the parametric EQ, plus a Hi/Lo switch for a great clean headroom and the ability to phantom power condenser microphones. Controls in the red-marked Gain section determine output volume, drive/gain (Pre-Vol) and the amount of signal gain in five steps (+18 dB, +23 dB, +28 dB, +33 dB, +39 dB). The classic three-band EQ controls are complemented by three knobs (EQ Shift) that determine the operating frequency bandwidth of the three basic EQ controls (treble - 2kHz to 30kHz, mids - 150Hz to 2.4kHz, bass - 20Hz to 440Hz). The EQ controls are complemented by the aforementioned Hi/Lo switch, Hi-Pass filter with on/off switch and Pad switch (-20 dB clipping, XLR input only). Thanks to the combined input, the box can be used with both instruments and microphones, the desired input can be set with the INST/XLR switch on the side of the box.
The pedal is wired as true bypass. The power supply is provided by a 9V adapter, the consumption of the box corresponds to 193mA.
