This training pad was created in collaboration with German drummer Anika Nilles to allow the most effective training of rhythms, creativity, muscles and muscle memory. Its specialty, however, is the ability to train each hand on a different surface.
On one side of the pad, you'll find a standard foam surface on which to practice endurance and control of dynamics. The durable foam minimizes the bounce of the mallet, allowing you to heavily engage physical strength for a great muscle workout or to warm up effectively before a gig. This foam also acts as great noise and vibration isolation when using the other side of the pad.
It's on the aforementioned second side that you'll find three surfaces - the black part of the pad provides a traditional sound and feel, the red dots provide more attack and a higher tone, and the black oval provides a more muted sound. This allows you to practice not only different rhythms and riffs with different sounding beats, but also to focus more precisely on each hand separately.
The standard 12" diameter with a solid middle layer allows you to place it on virtually any snare stand, so you can precisely adjust the desired height and incline of the pad.
Also included is a carrying case and a set of exercises by Anika Niles.
