The mahogany body of the EC-256 VN is decorated with a spectacular veneer of flamed maple. The three-piece mahogany neck is glued to the body. Twenty-two Extra Jumbo frets divide the jatoba fingerboard, known as Brazilian cherry. Orientation on its surface is facilitated by position blocks.
Two proprietary passive humbuckers provide the guitar's sound with the necessary drive. Standard adjustments include two volume knobs, a tone shield and a three-position pickup switch. With the Push/Pull tone shutter function and the ability to split the humbucker coils, the sonic arsenal can be expanded with the character of single-coil pickups. The strings are mounted in the company's tuning machines and in a solid TOM tailpiece and stringers.
ESP has been making electric guitars since 1984, and satisfied customers include Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Ronnie Wood and Max Cavalera. Due to the popularity of these instruments, a subsidiary company, LTD, was created to offer popular models in an affordable option. Even in the case of ESP-LTD guitars, however, great emphasis is placed on the quality of workmanship and fitted components.
