Vintage magnetic echo sound
To achieve the same character and complexity as vintage tape and magnetic echo, every detail has been thoroughly studied and carefully replicated. Including typical saturation, soft clipping and manual head control or filter clipping. The Volante will add tons of character to your tone.
Volante offers the full experience of instruments fitted with multiple magnetic heads. The center of the control panel houses a quartet of heads with independent delay, pan and level settings. The adjustment possibilities are thus almost limitless, wishing to create complex textures and even reverb surfaces.
Three echo types
The Magnetic Drum Echo is renowned for its warm, harmonically saturated tone, which is the responsibility of a number of electronics - in the input, mix, amp, filter and output. The emulation goes so far as to allow you to adjust whether you want the sound of a new instrument or rather a time-tested piece.
The accurately emulated multi-head tape echo doesn't lack subtle saturation or characteristic sound imperfections. Mechanical adjustment, wear and tear on the heads, creasing, gluing and dirt have all been accounted for. Volante offers all this enriched with modern control and stability.
Studio Delay offers a simulation of professional tape recorders from the 50s and 60s, which creative sound masters also used as their first effects. Of the three types of delays, this type is the cleanest and allows for a large amount of repetition with minimal degradation.
Professional control and quality
Comprehensive controls allow, for example, the playback levels of individual heads (flat, half, quiet) to be set and added to or removed from the feedback loop, regardless of whether the head is active or not. This puts complex rhythmic structures and atmospheric textures at your fingertips.
To avoid degradation of the pass-through signal, Volante offers a fully analogue path in the case of unprocessed signals, with discrete components, low noise and Class A JFETE stereo preamps.
At the heart of the digital is the very powerful Analog Devices SHARC ADSP-21375 processor with a frequency of 266 MHz and an incredible 1.596 gigaflops of operation. This ensures excellent quality that can withstand the demands of professional studios.
