The Fender Jag-Stang is an electric guitar with an original offset shape first introduced in 1993 as part of the Fender Custom Shop model series. The guitar was designed by Curt Cobain, who incorporated elements from his popular Fender Jaguar and Mustang offset models into the instrument. The current limited edition comes to market to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nevermind recording.
The guitar's alder body is covered in a glossy polyester lacquer. A rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-two vintage-size frets and white imitation mother-of-pearl position dots is glued to a bolt-on narrow maple neck with a "Slim C" profile. The shorter gauge (610 mm) and narrower neck (40 mm fretboard width) will please players who prefer more compact guitar shapes.
The combination of a cobbler humbucker and a vintage-style single-coil neck pickup provides the guitar with a spectrum of sounds that covers the more aggressive and softer positions in Nirvana's work. The character of the tone can be shaped using the volume potentiometers, tone shutter, three-position pickup switch and phase in/out switch.
The strings are held in vintage-style tuning machines and a six-saddle Mustang tremolo. The stylish look is accentuated by a four-ply imitation pearl pickguard and logo on the headstock.
The guitar comes in a gig bag.
