The guitar's construction incorporates elements from the Gibson ES-335 and Trini Lopez models at the request of D. Grohl. The guitar features a semi-hollow ES-335-style body construction made of laminated maple and poplar, a one-piece mahogany neck, a fig fingerboard with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl split diamond position blocks, and a Trini Lopez-style headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuning machines.
The instrument's voicing is taken care of by Gibson USA's preferred Burstbucker humbuckers, with a Burstbucker 2 model at the neck position and a Burstbucker 3 model at the tailpiece. This makes the guitar completely "ready to rock". Adjust the character of the sound using the volume potentiometers, tone shutter and three-position pickup switch.
