D'Angelico acoustic guitar strings are based on the original concept that the company came up with in its heyday. They are made from a bronze alloy with an unusual ratio of 85% copper to 15% zinc, which gives the strings a full and resonant sound with a balanced degree of tonal brightness. This is why their distinctive sound can be heard on many legendary recordings from the mid-twentieth century. After the closure of the American Bethlehem Steel plant in the 1960s, their production was discontinued.
Now these legendary strings are making a comeback in the form of the Prohibition Bronze series.
