The Ibanez GRGA120QA-TKS electric guitar is part of the GIO series, which offers affordable instruments suitable for beginning players. It is a Super ST RGA model with a domed top, flatter neck and distinctive body cutouts tailored for aspiring rock and metal guitarists.
The guitar's poplar body is decorated with a Quilted Maple Art Grain veneer and a Transparent Black Sunburst finish. The maple neck is glued to a purpleheart/amaranth fingerboard with twenty-four jumbo frets. White position dots on the fingerboard facilitate orientation.
Two Infinity R passive humbuckers with ceramic magnets give the guitar a juicy dynamic sound that doesn't lose concreteness even in high-gain distortion settings. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the volume and tone diaphragm potentiometers and a five-position switch that offers split-coil pickup configurations at positions 2 and 4. So you can change the full humbucker sound to single-coil by flipping the switch.
The strings are mounted in the company's T102 tuning machines and tremolo. Many will also appreciate the mono-unit output jack made from a single piece of durable material, thus avoiding the usual effect of loose parts and loss of contact.
