The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.

The Eastman T184MX-GB is a semi-hollowbody electric guitar in a double-cut design with a more compact, fourteen-inch-wide, all-solid body in the style of the popular ES-339 "thinline" models. Musicians who find the larger sixteen-inch wide body of the ES-335/T186MX models uncomfortable will appreciate playing the guitar.

The front of the guitar is made of solid maple, while the back and sides are made of solid mahogany. An ebony fingerboard with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets is glued to the mahogany neck with a nice "C" profile. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position dots.

Two Bare Knuckle BC Old Guard Custom pickups with Alnico 2 magnets and lower output provide the guitar with an open dynamic sound that you'll appreciate in blues, country, pop and rock. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. The strings are mounted in Gotoh's renowned tuning machines and through the Gotoh TOM bridge in the stringers. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the double-sided figured maple body, fingerboard and headstock binding and the mother-of-pearl company logo on the headstock.
