The Precision Bass, Fender's first electric bass model, was introduced back in 1951. It is therefore the first ever mass-produced electric bass. The name "Precision" was earned by the "PB" due to the fact that its fingerboard was roasted, unlike double basses - bassists could therefore play with more "precision". In addition, it offered a more specific and crisp tone. This model has gone through a long evolution over the last few decades and today you can find it in the hands of bassists from blues to R&B to rock.
The body of this bass is made of lightweight poplar wood, which together with the comfortable "C" shaped neck profile ensures maximum playing comfort. Sound pickups are handled by the traditional pair of Squier split-coil P and single-coil J pickups, giving the instrument a wide range of sonic possibilities. Combined with volume potentiometers for each pickup and a shared tone shield, you get an instrument that's sure to be at home in virtually any musical style.
