The Epiphone Uptown Kat ES semi-hollowbody electric guitars are another addition to the "Kat" series. These instruments offer a classic semi-hollowbody design with a body that is smaller compared to the ES-335 or Casino models.
Constructed from five layers of maple and poplar, the overmolded body of this guitar is adorned with a Sapphire Blue Metallic finish. A mahogany neck with a "SlimTaper C" profile is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Position blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl facilitate orientation on its surface.
Two factory ProBucker FB720 mini-humbuckers successfully capture the sound and feel of the original PAF pickups. The character of the sound can be adjusted as standard with two volume potentiometers, tone controls and a three-position pickup switch. Waxing the pickups ensures satisfying playing without annoying feedback and hum.
Fast and accurate tuning and good sustain are ensured by the high-quality Grover Rotomatic mechanics with 18:1 gear ratio and Locktone stringed headstock. The stylish look is accentuated by the body and fingerboard perimeter binding, gold hardware and logo on the headstock.
