The body of this bass is composed of two wings of okoume, which are covered by a top made of richly decorated poplar, while the back of the instrument is made of ash. A through neck glued together from five pieces of maple and walnut adds long sustain and a stable tone. The jatoba wood fingerboard is ear-trimmed and has 24 stainless steel frets, plus a zero-fret that maintains minimal string height above the other frets and is also prized for intonation and sound. Specific hardware features of BTB basses include enclosed tuning machines, a safety-locked input jack and a unique split Mono-Rail fingerboard, ensuring maximum vibration transfer to each string within the body of the instrument.

Bartolini's BH2 two-coil pickups provide dynamic attack, balanced sound at all frequencies and long sustain.
