The Fender Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster is a re-issue of the Starcaster semi-hollowbody electric guitar that Fender introduced to the market in the second half of the 1970s. Due to the relatively short production life, the original models are quite interesting collector's pieces, but buying them is not exactly an easy or cheap affair. The Squier Classic Vibe guitars offer the authentic feel and design of these instruments for a fraction of what you would pay for the originals.
The guitar's asymmetrical arched body is made of laminated maple. Also glued to the bolted maple neck with a pleasing C profile is a maple fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Narrow Tall frets. Orientation on the fingerboard surface is traditionally facilitated by black position dots.
The two company humbuckers honor the design of the original models and give the guitar a massive sound with the characteristic Fender imprint. Two volume potentiometers, two tone controls (for each pickup separately) and a three-position pickup switch are used to adjust it.
The strings are mounted in the company's vintage-style mechanics and in a fixed, adjustable tailpiece and stringset. The guitar's unique design highlights the original headstock shape in addition to the asymmetrical body shape. Traditional elements are represented by the nickel hardware, cream body binding and black three-ply pickguard.
