The ergonomically shaped body, the new "Modern D" profile of the maple neck, the rounded edges of the fingerboard and the bevelled neck foot for better control at higher fretboard positions all contribute to the excellent playing characteristics of these instruments. The compound fingerboard radius (10" - 14") and twenty-one Medium Jumbo frets offer an ideal platform for both chord playing and fast shred solos.
Two single-coil Ultra Noiseless pickups give the guitar a vintage and properly rock-distorted sound that is free of annoying hum thanks to Noiseless technology. The controls offer an interesting innovation, with the standard potentiometers acting as Master Volume and tone controls for each of the pickups, and the characteristic "wheels" acting as volume controls for the pickups when the Phase circuit is activated. Switch S-1 on the Master Volume potentiometer to change the wiring of the pickups (parallel/serial).
The strings are anchored via a bone fret in closed locking mechanisms (Deluxe Cast/Sealed Locking), a six-saddle chrome-plated brass fingerboard, and a floating vibrato typical of Jazzmaster and Jaguar models. The stylish look of the guitar is accentuated by the company logo on the headstock and the three-layer pickguard in Mint Green, which also protects the lacquer from scratches.
